I'm
excited to be attending Texas Linux Fest (TLF) for the first time this
year. I've wanted to attend every year, but it hasn't worked out
logistically for me in the past. If you're at TLF 2013 in Austin (May
31-June 1), be sure to stop by the USENIX Association booth.

hear from Gayathri Swaminathan, a systems engineering who offers an international perspective on system administration.
RE: Please tell us a little
about yourself and what you do.
Yesterday I saw a tongue-in-cheek
petition asking for the White House to intervene in a debate over a
proposed new University of Kansas men's basketball team uniform. The
petition called the uniforms “stylistically heinous” and said
they “tarnish a venerated institution.” The petition asked the
White House to “Stand up for our university, for coherent color
schemes, and for the spirit of Wilt Chamberlain.”
Are you attending SCALE11x in Los Angeles this weekend? I look forward to SCALE every year and was excited to have a USENIX booth in the expo again. I think my first SCALE was five years ago when I was working at Linux Pro Magazine, and I immediately fell in love with the great community event and made a ton of friends while I was there. This year, Mother Nature called and dumped a foot of snow on lovely, Lawrence, Kansas.
